MS Office 97

Okay, so here is my problem. On my old computer, which no longer works, I had MS Office 97. I knew my computer was at the end of it's life so I wrote down the id key for the things I thought I would need.

So although I have the id key for MS Office 97 I can't find anywhere to download it, including Microsoft's website.

All of my internet searches lead me to places to illegally download the cd key which is not what i need or want.

Is there anything I can do or is this just one of those situations where I'm out of luck? I know its old and outdated but it works for what I need so I wanted to still use it if possible.

Microsoft never distributed Office via download until version 2007.

What'd ya do with the Office 97 CD used to install it in the first place?

Your only recourse now is probably to purchase it on ebay. Their listings for: Office 97. Due to it's age, you should be able to get it at a low cost.

 

As an alternative, you could try OpenOffice, which is free. See www.openoffice.org

 

I'm not sure what happened to the CD I got it a long time ago and I was more careless when it came to things like that than I try to be now. I also never considered I might have to move it to another computer.

I think I'll just go with OpenOffice. I have used it before and it's fine, it just isn't my preference. However, it is right in my price range

There is also Google Docs is you have the internet connection to support it. Good luck!
