I don't know if this has caused anyone else any problems, but I have tested this on 3 different machines now and the installation did not complete once. Can it be run on an installation of Office that has already been patched to the point before this release? One machine I tried it on said it failed because Excel already had been patched. The other 2 said 'the expected version of this sofwtare could not be found on the system', which I thought was a bit odd. After the service pack removed itself, it knocked out the NK2 file and also caused problems on Outlook when opening new emails, something about a program is trying to access word and cannot.... Weird.... Removed Office and re-installed without the patch, now working ok. Needless to say, it's not an update we will be pushing out!

I used the client version. I'll give the full version a go and see what happens. Thanks for that.

Well, I uninstalled Office 2003 from my machine, re-installed it, downloaded the full service pack install and guess what 'The expected version of the product was not found on your system'. I am 110% certain that I am running MS Office 2003 std. I'm afraid this one has definitely got me stumped!

My good mate Steve ( Matacumbie ) reminded me that a possible problem why you cannot install SP2 for office is that MS updated the Windows Installer a while back and all new updates/programs tend to work with this only http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FC-5F56-4A38-B838-DE776FD4138C&displaylang=en worth a try?

also if it errors again try repairing Office rather than uninstall/re-install then try the full update again.

Thanks for that. I have tried running this installer and I used the given validation code. It appeared to all go through fine and then I still got the same error appear about not having the expected version of office on my computer. This is definitely weird!
