MS older Force Feed back, vse 400 Chip Set?

I have older, but great MS Force Feedback that still works fine on old 98 machine. 98 recently went to old PC resting place. Tried to get the FF to work on XP machine, now with no game ports go via USB coupler. When looking around for driver info etc, found a data that FF will NOT work with older KT400 chip sets. So is there a work around for such things, or do the old but great FF's go to the resting place for ole FFs? Now if KT400 can be overcome, could pull old card off 98 machine with game port and use it?

When I try to load FF software, get some sort of incomparable message and also go to reconfigure via device mgr, not a clue what they means or how to do whatever. etc. Not sure where FF would be listed to do whatever I need to do in device mgr, any help there? Noe the ole FF's were fun and allowed bit more reality when I went on dawn patrols..etc
