MS Outlook email help please?

I recently changed my email over from Outlook Express to Outlook for some of the features, but I am having a few problems that I cannot seem to get rid of and was hoping someone could help. Both of the issues seem to have to do with virus programs, but I cannot find anywhere in Outlook or the virus program where to fix it or find help.

1 problem: When trying to send and receive, I get the following error message intermittently. "The TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server. Server response - ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server. Cannot connect to the mail server".
So, it looks like a problem with AVG, but I cannot figure out what the problem is or how to fix it. This just started recently and no changes have been made other than the regular updates to AVG.

2. problem: While not really important, just kind of annoying. When trying to start Outlook, I get this error. "The add-in c:\programfiles\mcafee.com\vso\outscan.dll could not be installed or loaded."
I uninstalled mcafee on this computer a long time ago since I use AVG, but I guess Outlook is still trying to call it to scan outgoing mail. How can I tell Outlook to not look for mcafee, but instead AVG? I have my email scanner configured properly in AVG.

So, if anyone could help me with these errors and how to fix them, I would be very appreciate. Thank you.

 

1. Disable your Firewall temporarily and see if you get the error when using send / receive.

2. In Outlook try going to Tools and Options. Pick the "Other" tab and then select Advanced Options. There are two buttons that might work. There is COM Add-ins or Add-in Manager. See if you can find something with Mcafee on it and uncheck it.
