Hi - I have MS Outlook (not sure what version) but I keep getting these emails, for rolex's mortgages, and drugs. At the end there is always a paragraph from some story like Dickens or something. Does anyone know how I can stop these? Below is an example of a paragraph. They are never from the same person (the emails) - thanks. -Liz

I Am having the same problem! What Am I doing? Since I do not know for sure which antiSpam program may I use for WIN98SE, for awhile I go to Tools and then to Message Rules, there you will find a pop-up where you can write down the e-mail addresses and block them up and since there are going to be lots of different addresses... Very tedious! But is working!

The emails you are receiving are called "Spam". They are unsolicited advertisements that are sent from companies to anyone and everyone, using harvested email addresses that they have gathered from here and there on the Web, and the only way to deal with these types of emails is to get a good Spam filter that you would install.

NEVER reply to these emails. NEVER check the box that says "If you would like to stop receiving these emails. reply here". That only lets them know that they have a legitimate email address.

You can look through some of the spam filters offered here. There are some good free ones, as well as some that are fairly cheap, and work well. We used Outlook Express for a while and bought Spam Bully, and it works great. Mail Washer is okay. The Major Geeks "picks" are Spamfighter Standard and Spam Pal.

You might also try using a different email client (such as Thunderbird) which has built in junk/spam filters that you train. Thunderbird is very effective, but if you don't want to change your email client, then maybe some of the above suggestions will help.

Look through that list, try some things, ask some more questions here, and let us know what else we can do to help.

And Welcome to Major Geeks! :)

Out of that list of Email Utilities, Mailwasher is pretty good, Free version only checks 1 email address unless you pay for the Pro version but it self learns spam and takes guidence from you on whats concidered spam etc and allows you to delete email from the server rather than allow it to be downloaded to your PC.
