MS Virtual PC and XP Mode

I installed this in my Win 7 yesterday just to take a look really as I already have a working XP in VMWare, but since doing so the system seems very sluggish, slow to fire up, leisurely loading of apps and so on. I've got 3GB RAM and only 50% disk utilisation, and Task Manager doesn't indicate that memory is overloaded at all but I'm very likely to dump it pro tem if this continues as previously the system was very responsive.

Has any other XP Mode user experienced any slowdown after installing it?

 

I have Win7 too and installed XPMode without problem, you mean your computer being slower since you installed or when you run the VM.

 

Well, as long as your VM isn't running alongside XP mode then you should be fine, theoretically. I ran XP mode on my Q6600 quad and my current i7 and there is no slowdown. What are your specs?

 

It's since I installed. I have the means to restore the system to its state immediately prior to and immediately after installing and I think I need to do that to prove whether there is a connection or whether it's down to some other cause.

@augie - 3GB RAM, Intel Core-2 Duo, 50 GB partition 25GB used. Main memory user seems to be Chrome and I'm wondering about that, much as I like its features.

Nope. I've restored it to its pre XP Mode state and it's its old snappy self again. I'll stick with my VMWare, which has Ubuntu and Vista as well as XP.
