The girlfriends laptop has MS Vista and will no longer boot up in either normal or safe mode. We can't find the disks for Vista, what can we do to get her laptop working again?

Does the laptop boot at all ?

If so then press F11 continuously while its booting, then follow the instructions !

    Hope This Helps ! :)

I check for drivers and if I find them, change to Windows 7; this revision covers the memory too and if I need more I do.

thanks guys i will try the F11 key and also the hirens boot cd tonite when i get home. ill let you know what happens tomorrow.

what happens is i will turn it on it comes ip with a message then goes to the screen that asks if you want to start in safe mode, normal mode etc. i will then select either option, it then comes up with the windows logo and the screen then goes black and all that is visible is the cursor.

so that is exactly what happens.
