Ms Word Question - How Can I Get This Feature Back

Hello All,

I have a very weird question regarding MS WORD. A while ago I had MS WORD on another computer and what this WORD did that I haven't been able to replicate on any other hard drive. The version I had was the 2003 Student & Teacher addition and I am currently using the very same program (meaning from the same install disk) on the laptop that I am typing this up.

What I was able to do is regarding text boxes and I was able to do sort of a "micro adjust" on them. Currently it is just the standard settings, but the way I had it on my other PC is I was able to move the text boxes in very small incrimintes, I was able to adjust the text boxes almost like per pixel....

I loved this and now I can't seem to get it to work on anything,.

Was this just an unfortunate bug that I found or is this a feature that I was installed, but just not enabled.

Please let me know.

 

Been awhile since I worked with text boxes, I know what you mean.

Try customizing your toolbar for Text box, add up, down, left, right arrows from format menu, this will nudge it around, might be better choices for you there too.

I need to line up text boxes and sometimes the options are too big of a move. I thought I was shown once how to adjust the increments of a move, but I can't remember the steps.I am using Word 2003,XP

OH THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry about shouting.......I just tried the holding the ALT key while using the arrow buttons and it did EXACTLY what I was looking for.

The only thing is on the other computer I didn't have to hold down the ALT key....is that changed in the Drawing feature?

This answer has been driving me nuts for the last 6 months.

 

Just from reading the solution using the keyboard, it looks like if you "turn off" the snap to grid feature it might work.

That must have what I did to enable that feature.....I don't remember doing it or how, but I am so relieved.
