MS Word question

I recently installed MS word, and it won't let me insert a picture, or word art. It just inserts a blank box. It will insert symbols properly.


I am using XP home on an Athlon XP 2000 with 512 MB RAM. The MS ofiice I installed is the student version. Normally this version is okay with pictures.

Any ideas?

Have you tried instead of inserting the image

go to the image and right click and copy it

then go to your document and paste it.

Try that to see if it works.
It worked on my microsoft word. but then again I was able to also insert the image.


if it works then I will assume that there must be a setting within word preventing you from inserting the image

 

If I cut and paste a picture I get the same result as if I had inserted a picture.
If I then clear my clipboard, and copy the space where the picture is supposed to be in the word doc, and then paste it to another folder, it is called "scrap" and described as a "scrap object" in the type column. It's also about ten times larger. A 29 kb jpeg became a 296kb scrap object.
