MS Word shortcuts

My aunt is frustrated with the shortcuts available on her machine - she is running Windows 98 & Word 98. I am running Windows XP and Office Prof XP. Here are some examples: When I want to go "Home" (to beginning of the sentence from the end) I press home key and go there. She has to press Home + left arrow to get there. If I want to delete I press delete key - she has to press the delete key + Y for yes or N for no. I have never seen this before and I've used all the Word versions since they came out in 5 1/2 floppy. There must be some sort of option she has enabled but I have been unable to locate any settings that are causing this extra work she is going through. Can you help? Thanks

[You sure it's Word 98? AFAIK, Word 98 is Mac-only... she should have Word 97.]

My best guess is that she has WordPerfect shortcut keys enabled. Most versions of word let you use WordPerfect or other styles of shortcut keys instead of Word's. Some of them tend to be pretty arcane.

Yep exactly the same line of thought I would have taken too Da Chicken.

Yes Word98 is only available for Mac's but even if it should be Word97 what Da Chicken said about the wordperfect shortcut keys changing the MS shortcuts of Insert Home PageUp and PageDown etc etc would be my first thing to check.

Goto Tools > Options > General and check to see if Help for wordperfect and Navagation keys for wordperfect boxes are ticked if so untick them close MS word down and restart.

Thank you both! I am sure you are right. She used to use Word Perfect and has moaned and groaned ever since she moved to Word. I will get a chuckle out of telling her it is her so perfect Word Perfect that is giving her a hard time...
