Ms04-011........

My AV keeps detecting a virus (stops it) and and directs me to the above. However, MS doesn't show a fix for XP SP2, just SP!. Any Ideas. Thanx

*Bump* Still getting this notice frequently...................Detect MS04-011_ LSASS-Exploit.
This is detected by Micro-Trend. Any suggestions anyone?

I'd go to Norton and download the Sasser removal tool, and try that. because MS04-011 is the M$ article on the expliot sasser used, if memory serves. Also, are you using Microtrend's PC-Cillin or Housecall?

Thanks tux...I'm using Micro Trend's PC-dillin Security. I am downloading the tool you suggested. It appears that PC-cillin is just letting me know it detected it trying to invade and stopped it. Maybe I shouldn't be concerned?

If you are using SP2, I'd say your AV is throwing false positives, or giving the wrong info for the virus/worm.

Use avast or an online virus scanner (not housecall) to double check results.

Remember, only have one AV installed at a time.
