msconfig for w2kpro

    hi all, i have w2kpro and have just downloaded msconfig.exe and transfered it to my system32 folder, i know this is an xp exe but i am not familiar with xp and thought you could dissable specific drivers with this tool (and re-start them) this does not seem to be the case, am i missing something or am i wrong (i have a rogue driver and need to test it), ta

    Hate to say it, but I think you're wrong, sir. Below, please find a screenshot of XP's msconfig dialog, and there's nothing regarding drivers there. What you want is device manager, I believe. To get there, please do the following:

    1. Hit windows key + r (or click start --> run)
    2. Type 'devmgmt.msc' (without the quotes)
    3. Press enter (or click ok)

    Here, you can see a listing of all the devices in your system. This gives you the option of disabling devices, uninstalling drivers, rolling drivers back (if an update goes awry), as well as listing all the files used by the driver.

    thanks, it was worth a try, i know (?) i can't get to the drivers through device manager and i uninstalled the software that the drivers belong to ages ago, its a real pain
