msconfig regenerates itself

    When I type msconfig in RUN it doesn't run, I tried renaming it and a new one regenerates. I tried deleting it and a new one appears after deletion. Anyone ever hear of this

    Welcome aboard, I'm not sure why you want to delete msconfig as that is your main system configuration file and the machine can't work without it. Hmm, do you want to lock the functions so that no one else can get in there and change something?

    Also as well as Augies questions do also tell us what Windows version you are using?

    If you get any error messages while trying to run msconfig from the RUN command then please post the message in full as it could help trace the issue.

    But if XP then this may help you HERE but also do check your PC for malware.

    Having problem getting msconfig to run, someone suggested renaming it and running the newly renamed file. Did that and msconfig regenerated a new copy in addition to renamed file. deleted msconfig and it just reappeared.

    Running windows xp sp3

    Symantec scans find nothing

    No error msgs when running msconfig, just blinks and ends. Tried running it straight form binaries in pchealth, no luck either
