Hi all. 1st time here and got a question. I've scanned the faq and some past posts but can't seem to find the answer. I'm running ME. Is there anyway to totally clear out non-checked line items that still appear in the startup box? Clicking the clean up button doesn't totally remove them even though the items that I've chosen to not startup do not. I was just wanting to totally remove all the unchecked items as I seem to have gotten hold of some type of spyware or something that was automatically loading upon start up. It wasn't/doesn't show a "name" or "loaded from" or "command" line and was loading anonymously without a clue to what it was.. I appreciate anyone's help.....thanks.

    justdad,

    Welcome to Major Geeks. :)

Give us some more information on your problem. When you "scanned the faq and some past posts" what were you looking for?

It might not be spyware, could be anything. The more info, symptoms, errors, etc. will help us all. Just tell us what's happening.

    1) Remove them from the startup folder.
    2) Get rid of ME
    3) Too Slow for XP? Install Win 2k.

    ;)

    Justdad, Try

    Starter from CodeStuff http://codestuff.netfirms.com/news.shtml

This will allow you to check/uncheck/delete anything, that is part of startup. I use it in W98SE. Should work in ME. Bazza

ok I tried it, it works ok, but not the way I was wanting. When looking in the msconfig startup box that shows all the checked and unchecked line items that appear, I was wanting to entirely remove all the unchecked items, and it won't do that. But thank you for your suggestion.

JD, try right clicking with your mouse on your selected item to delete. Works wonders. Bazza

    HI

On my msconfig its hard to tell what the program is thats running and in the startup. I regognize the microsoft programs and virus but no clue on others.

Is there a simple way to understand what to have in the start mode?
