MSE isn't updating

Since January 19th, I have not been able to update MSE defs by clicking on the UPDATE button in the program. I have been able to manually update by downloading from this page:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/troubleshooting-update-issues

Is this a know recent issue or a problem with my system? I'm running Windows 7 64 bit as the OS.

Are you able to get the monthly Automatic Updates ??

Click the Help button on the right and select About Security Essentials.
What versions are you running?
My 64 bit Win 7 Home Premium has the following info:
SE and Antimalware: 4.0.1526.0
Engine Version: 1.1.9103.0
Antivirus & Antispyware definitions will vary as you update
Network Inspection System Engine: 2.1.8904.0
Network Inspection System Definition: 17.36.0.0

I will mention that either the 19th or 20th I tried to update an XP computer and kept getting a problem with my internet connection. Since I was surfing and reading and writing emails, I assumed that MS's servers were down and I couldn't update because of that.

The MSE update issue should be fixed by now.

If you still experience update difficulties, you can download the latest virus definitions manually from http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/definitions/howtomse.aspx

I was able to update today, so apparently whatever was wrong was fixed. I did a little looking around on the Web and saw other people were having MSE update issues between Jan 19th and 22nd.
