msgsrv32 not responding

Not too sure if this is software or hardware problem. Am running Windows ME (on a fairly old system that has had various hardware changes and a processor update over the past couple of year).
CD player won't autorun and sometimes doesn't want to open by button (but will using eject in menu). The CD/DVD player is about 12months old, LG & software is INCD.
When I try install Sims game CD, it hangs after about 25%, this seems to be because msgsrv32 is not responding. So I think this is some kind of system problem, but not sure.
Also msnappau is listed in program list (when I ctr alt del) and I'm not sure what it is or whether its safe to close.

 

Don't know if this will work with ME. Try it & see. It does not install, just runs. It is from Microsoft.....I think.

 

Thanks, but autofix won't run. I get message "autofix.exe file is linked to missing export kernell32.dll getVolumNameForVolumeMountPointW"

 

This is a bit of a work around & depends on how big your hard drive is>

Grab 'Daemon Tools'. Freeware. Then grab 'blindwrite'. Shareware...15 day trial.

Install them then use blindwrite to copy the cd to the hard drive. Use Daemon to mount it & see if it will install from the hard drive.

At least you will be able to play. ..........if it works.
