New PC upgrade planned for the near future. Looking at 2 MSI motherboards in Particular...

The only difference i can notice is the SLI Chipset and a price difference of £25 dearer.

Is there any real benefit? I have a budget of £600, i can get a 2.4 ghz X2 with the standard 570 mobo or a 2.2 with the 570 SLI, which do u recommend, it will be with 2gb of pc6400 ddr2 cas latency 4.

    Thanks in Advance

For your case, I wouldn't recommend it. You would have to buy 2 identical video cards to see a benefit from SLI, which I'm guessing isn't an option, since you're on a budget.

Not that SLI is a bad thing. I LOVE my SLI rig at home. The thing is a beefcake.

If you are a gamer, and just want the option to go SLI in the future, it may be worthwhile, but keep in mind that with the pace of technology, it may be hard to get an identical video card down the road.

    Also have some other options...

    RAM:

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Corsair_XMS2_Memory.html#aMY_2d108_2dCS

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/GSkill_Memory.html#aMY_2d013_2dGS

The G.Skill is cheaper for some reason tho i dont know much about them. I know corsair are very reputable and make good RAM, which would you choose? ignoring price as £220 is my limit!

Im also torn between 2 for my graphics card...

P.S i researched the SLI issue with the motherboards, and i assume i am correct with the fact SLI technology is so that 2 graphics card can be ran together taking advantage of the x16 pci-e or sumthing liek that? :s lol

Cheers for your help Mada_Milty, didnt see your post there!

Thanks for your help so far m8.

SLI is great, if you have a bottomless wallet. Put simply a PC with one good video card can run anything well (doens't stop me wishing I could afford a decent SLI rig).

Assuming you're not about to come into £600+ that you fancy spending on a pair of top of the line video cards, an SLI capable motherboard is worth no more to you than a normal one. Save yourself the £25 and spend it elsewhere in your system.

Aye Aye captain, would that £25 be worth being spent on the Corsair Ram over the G.Skill? or is it better to get an Am2 clocking at 2.2 over the 2.4 version and spend the extra 30 towards a better grpahics card?

Be careful with am2, from what i have been reading the mother boards are buggy, the ram wont run up to speed, update this, update that, i would stay with the 939 and ddr. ed Heres a good read,
