    Hi.

I'm hoping someone may be able to help me on this small but annoying issue.

Every now and then my cpu usage shoots up to 80% - 90%. It lasts a couple of minutes which can be annoying when trying to perform other tasks. Using Process Explorer I have traced the culprit to be the msiexec.exe program which I understand to be the Windows Installer. The command lines associated are shown to be

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\MsiExec.exe -Embedding F93BB6C8FACC1E913E156AE82712A5A1 M Global\MSI0000

    and

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\msiexec.exe /V

I have downloaded the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility but I'm not sure which program it is I need to be cleaning. I don't want to clean everything in case that leads to further problems down the line in terms of uninstalling software etc...

Can anyone point me in the right direction of what the problem is and how to sort it?

    Cheers
