msimn has caused an error in directdb.dll

I have an AMD built by DIT Comp(approx 3 yrs old); windows me; Above error message comes up when I open Outlook Express 6, started out of the blue;

I have reloaded IE 6, twice. I have deleted and reloaded directdb.dll twice I have done a system restore to a month ago

I have not loaded any new programs within the last 30 days Microsoft help pages do not answer the prob

I have already tried about every suggestion there is on the
microsoft website...that fix didnt work...thanks any Matacumbie

locate your INBOX.DBX file and rename it to INBOX.OLD and then restart OE.. report back.

 

Still getting the same error...is this weird or what??

Does OE start or does the error message shut it down?

Yes OE starts... I can even pull up e-mails in my boxes...nothing new loads
and I cannot send...

 

the only other suggestion I have is to find that file... rename it and run a repair. If repair sees the file, it will not replace it so by renaming it , it should replace the file.

 

If the suggestions on this page http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=225867 didn't or will not fix the problem, then I'm afraid you have me stumped.
