I have recently started a new job and am trying to get msn on my computer....I was able to sucessfully download it but when I try and log on I get this message...

We were unable to sign you into .NET Messenger Service, possibly because of a problem with the service or with your Internet connection. Please make sure that you are connected to the Internet.

CLick the help button to check the current .NET service status.

when I click help it says i am connected and there are no errors....I am always connected to the internet so I dont understand......what can I do....I am really bored here and need something to pass the time...

your employer has probably setup a firewall to block MSN ports. Which means communication will be blocked even though your connection is "on".

Is there any way that I can bypass this?

bribe your network administrator to open the ports with candy.. we geeks love candy ;)

Seriously though, chances are that you are out of luck.
