MSN Messenger 4.7 and 6.2 problems

Can someone please help me or tell me what is going on?

I have Messenger 4.7 that I upgraded to 6.2 My problem is that it seems to have a live of it's own. When I log-on it comes up always as 4.7 I tried to remove it from my computer but it will not let me take all of it out. I reinstalled it as 6.2 and it came back as 4.7 while I clearly wanted 6.2
I am getting pretty frustrated and ready to just take it all out and be done with it.
Here's the kicker, when I tried to take everything out the first time it still was a fully functional messenger! What the heck is going on, and what am I missing? Please help!

 

Hi there have you had any luck removing msn 4.7 and reinstaling 6.2?
