MSN messenger Live and Vista

    Hi everyone, im just looking for some information based on my new system. Im currently running Vista Premium, and my son usually has MSN.

    Ive downloaded Messenger Live, but my son cannot log on. It pops up with a message:

    Messenger has stopped working, check online for a solution to the problem or close the program.

    I have clicked check online, and it tells me i must put the msn messenger exe file in the exemption of DEP (data execution protection), now when i attempt to put the exe file into the area where the exe can be an exception of DEP , it says i must have DEP for it to run.

    As you can see, im quite confused,

    Any assistance would be grateful.

    If you right click the MSN icon and choose run as administrator, does it work ok?

    Which version Live MSN messenger is this, if latest version then it seems not only some with Vista but others with XP have this DEP issue with Messenger, the only workaround at present is to install an older version of MSN messenger live.

    Running as administrator has made it work. Thanks for your assistance!

    Ah ok good, do keep an eye out for an updated version as you really shouldnt need to run it as an admin by default, unless your using limited accounts with parental controls for your son.
