I wonder if anyone can help me with this one or has experianced it themselves. Every night at midnight my MSN logs out then reconnects. There are two factors that have changed:-
    1 i have installed a netgear router
2 MSN have introduced version 8( i have heard people having all kinds of problems)

I am running MSN 7.5 and until a few months ago this was not a problem. My router hasnt disconnected and when i look on its status pages it says it has been connected for 1000's of hours and anything else i happen to be working on at the time stays connected (including yahoo).

This not only happens on this pc or just my account. Any user on the network has exactly the same problem at the same time regardless of how many users are online and what account is being used.

I have looked on the netgear troubleshooting web forum and nobody else has had this fault.

My ISP btw is BT (British Telecom) any pointers or advice would be appreciated.

[EDIT] Removed IP logger image. [/EDIT]

Just had a look at my usage statistics at my ISP's website.

Shows that I am logged off for 5-6 seconds before midnight everytime then reconnected.

Must be their end refreshing the connection.

Try going into your ISP account and view your usage stats.

For version 8 you are supposed to be signed up for that beta and unless you are you will have problems as you have not been authorized to use it

    Hi Nick,

Sorry, maybe i was a little vague but i am not running version 8, I am running version 7.5, i was saying that the problem started at the same time as the beta version of msn 8 became available online and am presuming that msn have made changes to their servers as they did when they went from 5 to 6 (limiting number of allowed contacts). I have contacted msn they of course have not been helpful.

    Hi Megalith :)
You can try uninstalling then using a good cleaner like c/cleaner and then try reinstalling again to see if that helps

Oddly enough, many MSN Messenger problems and errors are related to your system clock settings not matching your Messenger settings.

    1. Right-click the time on your taskbar and choose 'Adjust Date/Time'. Confirm that all of the information under the 'Date and Time' tab, and the 'Time Zone Tab' are correct.

    2. Next, go into your Messenger settings and make sure that the Time information is correct.

    Good Luck!

Have you checked your IP address to see if you are being assigned a new one at midnite?
