When I download a fresh version of MSN Messenger it will freeze my internet and will not log on. when I load it, it freezes, and it stalls all internet activity. It becomes "not responding" and then I end task in the task manager and the internet will come back instantly.

Well go into internet explorer (if u still have it) and if a pop up comes up and says "Connect -or- Work Offline" press connect then ur internet and MSN will work.

hmm, that didn't seem to work. however, when I look in my task manager when it's frozen, there are 2 msn messenger's running, if I end one, they both end.

Which windows version are you using as if XP then it originally came with Windows Messenger 4.7 which could still be running at the same time as your newly installed MSN messenger ( MSN messenger doesnt automatically update the original XP Messenger ).. do you have two messenger icons in the system tray?
