Hi guy's. We have been having problems for the last week getting into MSN messenger or hotmail (it says our password or username is incorrect when it isn't). We also can no longer log into our net banking and a few other sites, etc any more.

I have gone through all of the Spyware removal steps listed on this site (with the exemption of the online virus scans, as ActiveX would not work).

I have tried checking the firewall settings in Norton's, and they allow the programs I have selected, and I have had a look in the security settings in Internet options, and they appear to be Ok.

Anyone got any other suggestions, as it seems to me like a security restriction type thing, but I don't know...

    Any help would be great.

    Jeff.

you probably changed something, or had it changed for you (spyware/virus)? anyway, i would sometimes get that on mcafee or symantec site trying to do an online scan, and it would prompt/send me to another page for troubleshooting. i have it here (from symantec site) below, i'd also make sure your security setting isn't to high (globe), i think it says that. g/l, - sos

Thanks for trying, but I tried that page before, and I did it again then and my settings were all correct, but the online scan still doesn't work.

    Any other ideas....?

    Jeff.

I think I have narrowed it down to some ActiveX controls that aren't working.

I am not sure how to check or fix this problem.....

    Hi I am using XP.

I was getting an error everytime I tried to do any online scan etc.

I ended up doing some more searching on here and found another thread about the exact same problem. I followed the instructions and I am up and running again.

Here is the link to the other thread http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=522359#post522359

Thanks heaps sosaman for taking the time to try and help me out, your a champ, as us Aussies would say ;)

    Jeff.
