I installed Norton Internet Security Suite 2005. I have MSN Premium. Ever since installing NIS 2005, I have been unable to log into MSN. I can check my hotmail, but cannot use any of the premium services. I have run the Firewall and "Searched for New Programs" and it looks like I have enabled all the requisite MSN programs, but nothing works.

I also have the problem that NIS has made my system run slowly and it takes forever to shut down (when it shuts down at all!). ccApp is the exe that seems to freeze and requires manual shut down. I also sometimes have another exe that requires manual shut down, dvSocket.

I really don't know what is going on. I thought Norton was supposed to be the industry leader. Their online support is pitiful and their fees for phone support are shameful.

Ironically, I switched to NIS after having a terrible time with the tech support for McAfee Internet Security Suite . . .

Uncheck the "Turn on Popup Window Blocking" option within the "Ad Blocking" feature of Norton Internet Security.

See if that allows you to login to MSN.

I'm only saying this because no one else has (yet):
Many people are dissatisfied with NIS (I was one of them). There are cheaper/more effective solutuions out there, I promise.
I hope Matacumbie's suggestion cleared up your problem -if it didn't then you could reply to this thread, or see if a different piece of software works better for you.
(I'm sure there is a way to keep NIS *and* use all of your premium services: but it's possible that you'll find NIS too cumbersome to work with.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, I followed your recommendations and I just get the fluttering butterfly indefinitely and can't sign in.

Do you have any suggestions for better anti-virus / firewall programs or suites?

Yes. I will list them below, they are free and very effective. But first, make sure that you uninstall NIS 2005 correctly, IF ADD/REMOVE programs does not work go here. http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...sf&view=docid&dtype=&prod=&ver=&osv=&osv_lvl=

OR HERE IF YOUR RUNINNG WINDOWS 98 OR ME

    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...sf&view=docid&dtype=&prod=&ver=&osv=&osv_lvl=

    Good anti-virus, AVG Free Edition 7.308 http://majorgeeks.com/download886.html

Good firewall, ZoneAlarm Free 5.5.062.011 http://majorgeeks.com/download388.html

Hope this helps. I think you will be much more satisfied with these instead of Norton's.

    Steve
