Msn problems

    Hey guys one of my mates is having some trouble with his MSN messenger 5.
    When ever he tries to sign in it says YOU ARE NOT CONNECTED TO MSN NET MESSINGER SERVICE. But checks his status and it says that he is connected to the service.
    Could it be anything to do with his firewall? He says that he has unistalled and reinstalled MSN about 5 times and still continues to get the same problem.

    Any ideas?
