msnappau.exe- unable to locate component

Hi, I am new to this site, and not the kind of person others would refer to as "technologically savy"- but I am trying to learn what I can and teach myself how to do what needs doing. . . my problem is that I have been getting this error message every time I start my computer; " The application has failed to start because au_util.dll was not found. re-installing the application may fix this problem." I have talked to several people about this and have looked it up online- the only thing that finally got the error message off my computer was going to RegCure and clicking on Manage Startup and disabling the msnappau- now the error doesn't show up upon me starting my computer. My ? is what was the error in the 1st place? Did it cause any problems on my computer? Also, RegCure said I had over 1000 errors in my computer that needed to be fixed- what is a "file path referance" and "empty registry item?" It says I have the most errors there. Anyone know how this RegCure thing works? Is it something I should trust to "automatically fix problems"? Thanks for your help.
