    Hi

You using two software firewalls as that is not great practice and can cause other issues, but if you have a router with NAT or SPI then thats a good backup to have and reducing the Internet Zone slider to medium is a good option for you.

This is the fix for that http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/board/message?board.id=cfg&message.id=52727

Just hope checkpoint can work this one out as ZA is a popular firewall, as updating core OS files will always happen at times in Windows so 3rd party applications need to have a check in place to allow user to reset database

Other workarounds that are filtering out are to uninstall KB951748 which is the critical update, until Checkpoint ZA fix this and issue an update, causing this or reduce your setting in ZA Internet Zone to medium temporarily until fixed, if you're behind a routers NAT or SPI firewalls then your as ok as you can be.

The setting the slider for ZA Internet Zone to medium or using the 1st fix above in reseting the ZA database are what I would concider best options as updates to the TCP Stack are crucial security ones.

Users of Vista/SP1 with ZA are unaffected

What is most lame about this is the fact that it was a *known* bug at ZoneAlarm that they hadn't acted upon. It was sitting in their system for three years before it finally took them down.

Unfortunately, I missed this thread and wound up thinking it was an incredibly effective virus that somehow got through and hijacked my TCP/IP settings. Oh well. Next time.

    Hello All,

Anyone know if this update effects comodo firewall? My firefox 3.0 is lifeless(cannot be opened or uninstalled) and does not show up in taskmanager. At first i thought it may be the last FF update, but since this MS update is mentioned???
Also tried a windows restore point but no difference. Any ideas?? Thanks

    Hi Methos

No does not affect other firewalls afaik, many here are using comodo and have not experienced this.

But best to start a new thread on your issue as its not the same as this thread, do also tell us what Windows version and service pack your using, does this happen to IE when you use that browser, can you boot to safe mode and uninstall Firefox 3, then re-install in normal mode.

    Cheers
