Msword2010 Overriding Msword2016

    I have both MS WORD 2010 and MS WORD 2016 installed on a windows 10 Pro machine. For a year now I have been having the problem of not being able to default files and default opening of the program to MSW2016. I feel I have looked in every nook and cranny of Windows 10; but have probably missed something. Not sure.

    Does anyone have any solid tips on preventing WORD 2010 from controlling the situation/OS???? I want to keep 2010 on the computer but I want to be able to access it only when I want to - NOT when it wants me to.
