MTP Device [reinstalling fireware]

I have a Samsung YP-U3 Mp3 player. This MP3 has served me well for probably about 6 months. It was all going well, until one day, and I'm not sure what caused this, but it stopped being recognized by Vista computers.

In the past, I've had trouble with XP computers, but never Vista computers. This is because Vista comes complete with MTP Device recognition. [which is what the device needs]

Now it won't work for neither. It comes up with "USB Device not recognized" and the computers doesn't know it's there. Strangely, the computer still charges it, and it can still play songs and stuff. The only thing it doesn't have is the interface which allows me to add or delete files.

Initially, I thought it could be the computer's problem, but having tested this on other computers, I'm leading towards a problem with the Mp3 player itself. Perhaps maybe I unplugged it unsafely or something, I think the firmware has been corrupted.

I would like to reinstall the firmware. I've downloaded the latest version (it's a .rsc and .rom file) but I don't know how to install it because I can't actually access the player from my computer. Is there a solution for this?

What can I do? Is my player stuffed? It's just so odd, it just stopped working one day.

if it's not playing on any computer you may have to contact samsung support.
First I thought if you installed the firmware on a usb thumb drive then plugged it directly into your player would it recognize it and run, but there is no initialization program on a mp3 player so that wouldn't work. Samsung may be your only answer not unless someone else has a better suggestion, you can hold on and see if someone else replys.
