I do not have sound on my computer I need to locate a driver, I think?
Windows XP Professional
Intel Pentium 4, 2400 MHz 918x133)
Intel Rock Lake D865PERL 5 PCI, 1 AGP, $ DIMM
Intel Springdale i865PE

Hi

Could you give us some info on when and potentially how your sound ended up missing?

Did you....

1. Have Malware thats been cleaned up?
2. Did you just reinstall Windows from scratch?
3. Did you just install SP2 or SP3?
4. Did you just install some new software or hardware before this happened, if so what?
5. Random occurance with no known cause?

Best bet is to Install the Chipset driver again and then install the Audio driver from Intel here

Also once done let us know how your doing with sound and what items have yellow ! marks next to them in Device Manager?

I deleted the soundmax icon by accident and deleted it in remove programs thinking I did not need it. Bad me!!! I am computer challenged and dangerous. Thanks for the reply. I will try what you said but usure what you are talking about.
