Well, don't know if this is software side question.. Didn't find any System Tweaking side here so here it goes... :)

Been wondering for sometime now since Running Windows 9x/ME/XP/2000/2003 systems together alot in like hundreds of computers. Well only Windows XP creates the layout.ini which shows defragmented which are the files used in system boot & System Run (if ofcourse the Boot/Apps are both in prefetch settings in registry).

    Here's Example:

Machine 1: HDD1: Windows XP (Active Partition, Cluster Size 4k)
Machine 1: HDD2: Windows 2000 (Active Partition, Cluster Size 32k)

Now I want to defragment Complete list of system boot & files commonly run from Windows XP for Windows 2000 Partition. I can list the DLLs & Autoruns with complete list with tools like Sysinternals 'Listdlls' & 'Autoruns'.

    Any suggestions?

If someone didn't get the point why would I want to do such thing or why in example the Windows 2000 Cluster size is 32 which windows 2000 API doesn't even support. Here's answers:

-Windows 2000 Side is running mainly huge size programs where 32K cluster size is faster than smaller 4k which is not "ideal" in this case.

-Why would I want to defragment system files in one location like partition start? Well, when windows system loads it loads alot of files in boot up progress, if these files are all over HDD even if the HDD is defragmented it takes alot of time to windows to search those files it eneds to load also in this case I need some of the software in partition start because those are software which needs to load in system start.. To speed up entire progress.

-what would the idea solution for me? That someone here would know or find the way to add entire Folder & filelist in to Windows XP / 2003 Layout so that Defragmenting softwares could identify second drive files as system files and add those to start of second drive primary partition. (adding list to layout.ini in Windows XP won't help since if you test it doesn't do anything which you can see tools like Perfect Disk.)

Ps Sorry for my bad english...
