Multibooting 98se and XP...help please!

OK, I asked in another thread which OS was best for dual booting, 98se or ME, and the overwhelming feedback was 98se! 98se! 98se!

Now I need to know how to go about doing this. I've made a new 2GB partition on my second hardrive (my XP NTFS partition is on my first hardrive) for 98se in FAT32 format and set it to primary not logical. Microsoft support say you must install the latest OS last as otherwise important files will be deleted, but in my case I already have XP PRO installed and don't want to uninstall it. Surely installing 98se on one partition won't delete files from the other? Anyway I tried to install 98 before I made the new partition and I got to a point where it kept asking me to put the 98 cd into my cd drive, which was already in there. So I stopped that installation, searched on the internet, made the FAT32 partition, waited a day or so and came back to it, and the installation started back where it left off, asking for the disk. So is the previous installation information stored in the computer somewhere, and if so how do i reset it? I want to start a fresh installation now using the new partition but it won't let me.

I was under the impression that if I install 98se onto the other partition, the multiboot will be recognised at startup and work straight off, am I mistaken?

If the OSes are on seperate drives it's a non-issue. With 98 and XP on the same drive 98 has to be installed first, and installed on the primary partition otherwise 98 will not boot.
