    Hi guys

I have been getting various blue screens reporting System service exception, Critical process died, and Registry error. Other symptoms are Adobe acrobat cannot open PDF. I wanted to reinstall windows 10 but before that backup with Aomei backupper standard, and also perform Avast Premium full scan. Both cause bsod

After executing Adwcleaner, PUPs removed after quarantine are still there on restart.
Shortcuts removed from desktop were also back after reboot, and the other 4 tools below gone.

I have downloaded Malwarebytes, Roguekiller, HitmanPro and MGTools again, but after installing and running MB.exe as administrator, it does not start. Same with Roguekiller, HitmanPro. MGTools caused a further bsod and a restart, then all the logs are gone, older versions on the desktop.

I've attached the Adwcleaner log, after re-download, install and execution. It's all i can get. Hope you can help on this one

Try rebooting into safe mode and see if the other tools will run. Attach any logs you can get. If nothing still runs, boot back to normal and do the following:

Please download the latest version of FRST the below link.
Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.

Note: Make sure you download the proper version ( 32 bit or 64 bit ) for your PC. Only one will run, the correct one. So it you make a mistake and download the wrong one, go back and get the other.
    • Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
    • Press Scan button.
    • It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your next reply.
    • The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

    Let's try a different avenue:

type Command prompt in the search box in your tray and right click in to "run as administrator"....let it run to completion and let me know if it finds any errors.

I can get the elevated command prompt, but did you miss something I was supposed to execute here?

Just FYI i have tried the shift/restart optiom, MSConfig, and power off several times and still cannot get into safe mode.
I am loathe to do a complete reinstall of windows until I can back up, but as I mentioned earlier, that is also causing a bsod

    Hi again Tim

I had already tried that, but have rerun and attached the log. This was the report "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them."
I dont see any /OFFLOGFILE flag.

If it found numerous corrupt files and repaired them......how are things running now?

I will need to attempt a backup, it has crashed a couple of times today. Usually when left alone a short time. What is also very odd is that after each normal reboot, the desktop, and Chrome are back as they were some days ago, not the last successful shutdown.
For instance, I have notes in a word document, which I have renamed, but when I restart, it has the old name again.
Other symtoms are PDF and word docs mysteriously won't open, but do after a restart

Important documents I am currently backing up to external drive. I have a feeling I may have to bite the bullet and reinstall Windows 10, but is very frustrating not being able to get into safe mode session and run those scans. If you have further suggestions, please let me know. Always grateful for your help

Just wanted to give you an update so you can close this thread.

It seems to be a hardware issue. I managed to reformat my 2nd SSD. Put that in my laptop, and reinstalled windows.
Tried to do the same with the primary drive, but the laptop complained it was corrupt.
Was successfully able to install the 2nd drive as primary on the PC. Got a BSOD, was then OK for a couple of days. but now continuous BSOD, to the extent the machine will not even get into windows.
Must be CPU, motherboard or RAM I guess, I don't believe it is overheating. So I'm off to a repair shop
