Multiple explorer sessions open on their own

On both my laptop with Vista and my desktop with XP, sometimes when I open Internet Explorer, it gets into a loop and opens multiple sessions, each in its own window. I have IE8 on both PCs.

Have you followed the steps in the malware forum?

 

Yes, it isn't malware, I think it is a Microsoft glitch. I searched the Microsoft support forum and their were others with similar problems, but no real solutions. I was hoping someone here had run into it before. It opens multiple windows with my home page in each one. When it finishes, I close all the extra windows and everything is fine. But it would be nice if there was a fix for it.

There is, but you will not like the answer. Most are using alternative browsers, such as Firefox, Chrome, etc. I rarely use IE9.x. Only place I am stuck using IE all the time, is on my work desktop.

 

What type of keyboard, wired or wireless? If wireless, try a wired one for a while. Have to say I have used IE extensively on several machines over many years and have never once encountered this problem, so as you are getting it on two machines I'm sure it's something local that's behind it.

 

You might try an IE repair with Tweaking.com 1.5.3

Both keyboards are wired. MAybe it's some other software that I use on both of them.
