multiple files

hi all...is there a download (preferably free) that a newbie can use to get rid of multiple files? i mean duplicates.....all the ones i see are very scarey and i'm afraid of really lousing up my puter...thanks in advance

No matter what tool is used and recommended here, examine each entry closely before deletion. These types of tools differ in their interpretations so be careful.

Clonespy is also extremely good, but is best suited for an advanced user.

i understood that..thats why i was asking if there is 1 that automatically determines what can be safwely deleted.....when i look at a list i dont know if deleting 1 of the 2 would damage puter

Safest thing to do is not to delete anything in the Windows System folder. It would be a difficult chore to write a program that would automatically determine what is and isn't important on every single system. Registry cleaners do that, and there has been tons of threads here asking for help after running scans that removed registry entries that broke programs.
