I am running IE 8 and when I open IE, after a few minutes there are anywhere betweeen 7-15 iexplore.exe running in the processes. Even if I close everything most of them still remain. They even show up if I dont open explorer. I have noticed it also has cause many svchost.exe to run as well. Ran MalwareBytes and nothing. Help!!!

Are you running XP with SP3?
Did this start recently, like right after installing IE8 perhaps?:wave:wave
    Any other issues?

Yes it just recently started doing this. I am running XP, and I also am on SP3.

I know IE8 automatically will open multiple iexplore.exe in the processes, but even if I close everything, the processes do not go away. If I open a browser and let it just sit at the default home page (google), 10 minutes later I will have up to 15 iexplore.exe running in the processes. When I close the browser, only one or two of the processes go away. Other than the fact that it seriously slows down my PC I have not noticed anything else out of the ordinary.

If it was just installed, try uninstalling IE8, this will revert your system to IE7.

Then, to install IE8 without troubles, if you want, IE8 first installs on the system, you reboot and when you start IE you'll be given the install menu.

I have found that if I just decline ALL offers on the install, auto updates, accelerators, etc. I say no or decline everything, then I have found it to run perfectly, never had even one problem installing it this way.

But first.try uninstalling it and see if that fixes the problem.:wave:wave

yeah Brandy is right. Uninstall it and then try to reinstall. IE 8 has had major problems doing this sort of thing in our office. For some, we have had to leave them on IE 7.

Of course the real answer is to download Firefox and leave Internet Exploder.

Doesn't that prevent your OS updates?:wave

Ok, update. Turns out this astuaclly started happening well after IE8 and SP3 were installed. But even if this were the problem i have a couple of questions.....

    1. Wouldn't the extra iexplore.exe that are running close after I close all of the browsers?

    2. I also have an extreme amount of svchost.exe running in the processes. About 10 or more of those as well. Is that common with IE8 as well?
