My yacht has a PC navigation system (Maxsea). The laptop is in the cabin and a monitor is on deck. It has ATI mobility radeon 9600/9700 series graphics and runs XP home SP3. Both monitors are set to 1024 x 768 but with the box "Extend my Windows desktop....." UNTICKED, both monitors display the boot-up sequence but the No.2 (on deck) goes blank when Windows starts. 'Display Properties' shows No.2 as "not active". If I TICK the box, there is still nothing on No.2 screen although 'Display Properties now shows No.2 as "Actve" but the Nav display on No.1 disappears leaving only the toolbars! Toggling Fn + F3 has the expected results on No.1 but no effect on No.2.

When you pull up your desktop properties and go to your monitor setup double click your main monitor picture to retrieve your display adapter properties. I would suggest modifying your settings inside radeons display driver tab rather than through windows, radeons driver packages are a bit finicky in that way. Let us know how it works out for you . Also list your connections types : vga/dvi/component etc.

That did the trick! It's VGA (XVGA) connection. Thanks for the help.
