Multiple Problems with HP DV2000t

Alright, so I got this DV2000t from Hewlett-Packard a year ago and at the end of the school year last year I started having problems with playing Battlefield 2. This happened right after a RAM upgrade and a Vista upgrade, which was quickly downgraded. (Didn't like it's lack of performance.) Anyway, the ram is fine, even tried swapping it out at the store for another brand. After many, many days spent trying to get BF2 to work with different graphics drivers and such, I got a program called GameXP that fixed Direct X errors I guess. After this, Battlefield 2 worked fine, but occasionally on the Project Reality mod I'd crash out getting the BSOD.

The error was as follows:
"The problem seems to be caused by the following file: nv4_disp"
"Device got stuck in an infinite loop.'
"*** STOP: 0x000000EA (0x87EF2A80, 0x8782CC40, 0xBAD1BCBC, 0x00000001)"

So I googled the problem, and saw somewhere that I should enter safe mode, uninstall the driver on there via the device driver, then reinstall them. This is where the second problem reared it's ugly head.

I cannot boot in safe mode. I pressed f8 on boot up, go to the selection menu, selected safe mode, made it to the login window, managed to log in, and in what seems like a predetermined amount of time (maybe 30 seconds) the screen goes black, and the computer reboots.

I have no idea if these two are related, but I have no problems anywhere else and I've ran mem test and all tests were passed. The only other program I've gotten the infinite loop blue screen other than BF2 was ONE time in Flight Simulator X.
