Pulled a laptop out of mothballs, a Compaq Presario 1500 running Windows XP Home, and it has a couple of things that are perplexing me.

    1. At first it was unable to detect any wireless networks in range. Now I can't even get the menu option to search for wireless networks in range and the wireless connection icon (bottom right) has gone awol.

    2. I can't get my LAN Settings to Automatically detect settings. I can select it, but no response.

    3. I can't switch to classic view in the Control Panel. Again, I can select, but no response.

    Any ideas out there?
