Like most people I have multiple users on my computer. However, I have just started using that system (yeah it took a long time), and I have some problems with sound. Let's say my brother is doing something important and I can't log him off, but I want to use my account. I switch users and I can work on my account as well. The annoying thing is when a buddy of his signs in on MSN, the sign in sound plays on my user as well. I have tried muting his sound before switching accounts, but that just means that my sounds are muted as well.

Does anybody know how to turn off another user's sound while keeping their own sound on? I am using the Windows 7 beta.

I haven't used Windows 7 yet (I'm waiting for some of the bugs to be fixed), and I've never tried modifying sound cross-user before. However, you can (left) click the sound icons icon in your task tray and click "Mixer" to control the volume of specific applications.

Maybe the applications using sound on his user may show up, and can be configured that way (simply mute MSN, for example).

    Hope this helps :)

oh i forgot to say that I tried that as well. I have also tried looking in the task manager. I can't set his sound settings from my account either.

thanks though. hopefully somebody else has ideas
