    Hello,

I am trying to play a .MUS file. When I click on the download link to the file, the download window says, "you have chosen to open blahblah.mus, which is a midi file".

I have downloaded copious codec packages. I have added .mus to my file types, associated with MIDI and told it to open with media player.

Media Player simply does nothing. MPC says "the following pins failed to find a connectible filter: SHN to Wave filter::>form out"

This last bit is outside the realm of my experience. What must I do to remedy this?

    Thank you.

    w0ts0n,

thank you so much for your prompt and informed reply, as well as the very useful link.

The file when extracted installs a DOS program.

I may be mistaken, but from the read me, it looks as if this program is for viewing/editing/saving written musical scores...there is no mention of sound files or midi. Perhaps this is a capability added in an update?

    Anyway, thanks for your help.

There's a program called Goldwave that can do a .mus to .wav conversion. I believe it's shareware, so use at your own discretion.:)

    Prometheos,

Well, I downloaded & installed it, but so far, I can't get it to play the file. Well, it plays something, but it sounds like a short burst of radio noise from SETI.

Maybe the file is corrupted, but I think probably not because it's choral music from a scholarly site.

Good program, though. Also very useful. You sure are an erudite bunch here!

I'll keep trying & let you know. Thanks!!

This might be something else. I vaugly remember a extension like for C64's, but I'm not sure.

It might help to know where you got it from.

The old Commodore 64 had tons of music written for it.

My boy is a musician, he has several variaties of sheet music players, fairly specialized stuff. I'll refer him to this thread and see what he thinks, it could easily be that this format is for something specific, and not for a generalized player. Reason I'm saying this is the site refers a lot to sheet music.
