I have a Velocity Micro System with an Asus A8N SLI Premium.

    I have 2 x 512 Mushkin PC3200 DDR400 Blue Series CL2 Low Latency with Heat Spreader.

I have 4 slots for RAM. I wanted to leave those 2 sticks in and buy 2 more sticks of either 2x512 or 2x1Gig.

Do I have to buy exactly the same RAM for compatability?

    Help....Thanks

No. It doesn't have to be the EXACT same memory, but it should be the same speed for best results. In your case, buy 2 more DDR400 sticks that are CL2. You may want to check the timings on your current RAM and try to match it the best you can. Many motherboards will allow you to set custom timings, so that's an option too. If the memory slots are 2 different colors, it means you have dual channel RAM. Be sure you put identical sticks in the same color... for example: if 2 slots are black, and 2 are white, put 1 Mushkin in each black slot, and one of the new RAM in each white slot. You'll get better speed from the memory that way.... Personally, I'd get 2 x 1gb DDR400 and put them in channel A, and the 2 x 512mb in channel B....
