Music contraption help

Ok so hear this out and give me any ideas. I want to makes something to go inside a cabinet or locker so that when the door opens, it triggers the music to start playing or at least connects the speakers to something playing already. Any ideas? I have speakers, ipod, etc. I kinda want to jury rig something. Ty a lot. u can email me at got2run5@gmail.com

 

Easy enough. Rig a kill switch like what is on the light in your refrigerator. When the door is closed, the circuit is open so the music is off. When the door opens, the circuit is closed so the music is on.

 

youd have to wire that to the speaker cord though. the ipod would be playing, then the kill switch like tibbs was saying would complete the speaker cord.

or something.

 

Is there anywhere like a video that could teach me how to wire a kill switch?

Check out my last post for more info. I've gotten down to this. I want a switch on whatever kind of wire headphones are b/c my speakers plug in like headphones. Any links to pictures or explanations of which switches I could put there? Or explain here? I kinda wanted it to switch on with the opening of a door, but I guess I could kinda jury rig that as long as I have a switch on the headphone wire.

cut the speaker cord. dont use good speakers... with that little switch, you could put some conductive material somewhere on the switch deal that will complete the cord when the cabinet is opened. if all works well, the switch will be on a spring that when the door opens the switch pulls the conductive material towards the two sides of the cut cord to complete the cord.

youre going to do some research on what kind of switch to use and what not. kinda hard to give you ideas on how to do something like this on a web forum.
