I know that there needs a file set up but have not been able to get a file and then transports the music. Would like some advice, thanks in advance

Hello & Welcome Java to MGs

I did post this in the other thread as well, so if I read what you wish to do correctly this will do what you want.

Open a new email in HTML format then goto Format > Background > Sound ( bare in mind that not all sound file formats can be played ) then browse for file and click ok

Sounds will only be heard by the recipient if they have their email set to accept HTML emails and not Plain Text.

Thanks Halo, I'm sorry about that but I could not remember where I had posted the first msg. Getting my feet wet on this board.

Yes I am able to do what you have mentioned. I question is: Can I download a song from a website and transer it to a file to be used in outlook.
There is a website "www.redsal.com" that has a song that sez download.
When I download it I am not sure where it ends up, once it ended up on my desktop. My utlimate goal is to be able to place that song in the outlook express sound folder but cannot figure out how to get it there.

Maybe that is not possible to do that. If you can would appreciate your thoughts, Thanks

Best thing to do when downloading is to right click on the link and choose Save Target As then you get a box were you can choose the location of your choice to save the download.

    as in this pic

What I tend to do is to have all downloads save in a temp downloads folder in which I can then copy & paste them to their own folder types eg. Music, Pictures Fonts etc ( and in your case Outlook Express Sounds ) once you have chosen a downloads location XP ( just guessing you are using XP btw ) will remember it for future use.... otherwise most of your downloads should go into Documents & Settings > your user name.

hope thats clear.... if not I will run through the steps again to make them read easier.

Hello again Halo, btw if am becoming a please let me know, I have several boards I am on and everyone is more than willing to help if it in their area of expertise.

I catch on a slower these days, I am 69yrs old but still thrive to learn. Music I like however when it comes to these things I am sort of lost.

I brought up the redsal site and right clicked on the d/l and it gave me the drop down box I then clicked on save target as, it d/l and their I got the save box. I tried every different way but the save always ended up in my docs.
I did then open outlook and opened my docs and clicked on the song as an attachment, I then sent it my my secondary email Yahoo and it worked as far as the music playing.

I running Windows 98 and that may be the problem. If you can decifer any sensible thing out of this msg would again appreciated remarks.

Have a good evening, it is 7:05 pm here in western maryland

    Hi Java

Its been a long time since I used Win98, but look for the same save in dialogue box as in the screen shot below if you have that then click the down "v" and choose a location.

    http://www.sfsu.edu/~helpdesk/pics/win98_saveas_window.gif

and/or as you are able to download the files ( but in the My Docs folder ) you want I would just create some new folders for various subjects you wish to download eg.

    Music
    Outlook Music
    Pictures

you get the drift.. and then just copy and past the files into these folders from your My Doc's folder ( and once copied delete them from my Docs ) just makes finding what you want a bit easier if they all have the own folders rather than all being lumped together.

    Similar to this..

as far as Outlook Express and the attaching sounds.. I guess after yor test your good to go ;)

Hello Halo, again Thanks. Moments after I posted the other night I was able to get the song d/l to use on outlook

What I did was as you suggested I clicked on the d/l link on the song and clicked saved to target and the saved which appeared in my docs.

I then went to the sound on outlook and clicked on the midi file and then on my docs and the name I saved it under appeared and I was able to put in the file box.

I think I need to as you say put things in different files. I have a "My Music" so will try that if that doesn't work I will try something else.

Also when I access this board is there a way to bring up my posts/msgs without scanning. On one board I am on I can click on "list subscriptions".

Again thanks, you got me on the right road and it greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the tip on how to locate msgs.
There is something that I have not tried and perhaps you could give me some info.
How do you copy something from the i/e to a floppy disk. Do you first have to copy d/l the article to a computer and copy it to a disk.

    Thanks!!

If its text then yes you would highlight the text and copy and paste it into either Notpad or Word ( or similar word processing software ) then save to your PC then copy to Floppy... easy way is to right click the text file and choose send to from the menu and choose 3.5" floppy and file will be copied across.

Hello Halo. Sunday evening 6:40pm, has been a dreay week here rain and fog and very cool weather, hopefully it is going to warm up this week.

I have another question on a problem my daughter is having with her email, outlook express. She is running Windows 2000professional. When she clicks on the o/e icon it quicks her off the internet. if she signs back on and then tries to check her msgs it quicks her off again.

I thought that may the box in the connections was checked Hang up,etc
but that was not the case.

If you would have any knowledge on what the problem might be, would appreicate your response.

    Thanks JavaJava

    Hi Java

another place to check is in IE Tools > Accounts > pick the email account > Properties > Connection and is the right internet connection being used or untick always connect to this account using

( dont want this to sound like a lecture as its not ment to be )
just a tip on forums as I know you are newish to these... always best to start a new thread to a new problem as most members will skim past some of the older sucessful fixed problems so may miss your new problem.... the more that see a new problem the quicker it will be fixed.
