Must have programs for everyday use?

Awhile back I saw a thread that was about what programs everyone used for various tasks. I was wondering if anyone had seen this list, and if so, could remember where it was? I'd like to keep it a little more handy this time around, it was very helpful in my latest install. Thanks again for your time.

As for peoples preferences...this list I linked you to is largely based on overall preferences along with tried & true testing. The list was developed in large part b/c of questions just like yours and enabled forum visitors and those replying to threads to answer with one link instead of multiple links to favored freeware programs.:major

 

If you look at the programs on the list, users have the option of rating them on a scale of 1-5. Personal favorites tend to be higher rated.
