MVPS Hosts file problem

Windows 7 32bit - Unable to update MVPS Hosts file using Admin privileges unless utilizing SafeMode. HitmanPro recognizes as a threat and is unable to repair the file.

HI

Hitman will see this as a threat by default as its a change to a core part of the OS that can leave you open to malware.

Personally I would open the mvphosts file and copy and past it into my normal hosts file using http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/hostsman.html as its pretty good at managing HOSTS in Win 7 +

Although I don't take much credence in managing HOSTS as I don't, I prefer to use Spywareblaster, but I do seen the attraction of blocking known baddies with HOSTS file.

Thanks for the reply DavidGP. I have used Hostsman on Windows XP but is not to my liking on Windows 7.
Just curious though as to why HitmanPro recognizes it as a threat on
Windows 7 64bit and not on Windows 7 32bit.

Hi

I can only guess that its due to 64bit Windows having two registries and HitmanPro is not fully geared to whitelisting specific areas or content yet, or an update has caused this flagging of the HOSTS file.

Tried to look up some info on this issue you have noticed but nothing yet apart from HERE and basically its likely to be a false positive
