My adapter changes

    I am running WIN98se on my computer and use a cable modem for internet connection. At times i am unable to surf the web as the pages do not load, if i reboot it usually solved the problem. Now I notice that the cause is my adapter changes from my NIC card to a PPP adapter. Can anytone suggest why this happens and what to do.
