My AGP card wont fit in my AGP slot

ok i just bought a new nvidia 6600 gt 128mb and i open up my computer and try to put it in it just wouldnt go in its like a mm from going in any suggetions??

 

First are you sure you have an AGP mobo & an AGP graphics card??

Post your exact MOBO Brand/Model or if off the shelf Puter, post exact Brand/Model
Also post your exact model video card

 

Are you certain that there's nothing stopping it from being inserted, like the locking mechanism?

You could probably get away shaving a tiny bit off the connectors, but I would recommend that you first try it in another computer, and then return it once you're certain that its made incorrectly.

It doesnt have an AGP slot
It does however have a PCI-e slot

Your Graphics card does seem to be an AGP

 

but i thought a PCI-e was set further back on the mobo??

 

if this helps, AGP slots are usually brown and PCIe white or orange or whatever, depending on the manufacturer. It will also be the longest slot there, AGP is nearly the same length as PCI

Regardless of the type slot, when inserting the "Correct Type Video Card"
it should install easily, if you need to force that would be a Clue something's not right!
